It’s a real blessing to be able to partner with such a great company and wonderful people to do some amazing things to help our respective communities…
A HUGE thank you to DaVita and all it’s teammates for partnering with Backpacks From The Heart for the venture.
A huge thank you to DaVita Labs for partnering up with Backpacks from the Heart on the upcoming charity drive, again to collect coloring books, crayons, and small toys for the kids at the local pediatric cancer hospital to use while getting their treatments.
“Truly He taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace.”
After breakfast and presents at home, we headed downtown to spread a little Christmas cheer to our local brothers and sisters in the hopes that they would know this is a day of celebration and not merely “December 25th”…
The offerings we had went quickly as word spread, and unfortunately we had many people that left empty handed, but thankfully we weren’t alone at the Lake helping out today – other much larger organizations were distributing meals, clothing, and toys, as well as providing haircuts as desired…so goes the expression: many hands make light work.
May your holiday be filled with joyous celebration and may you always keep in heart the true reason for the season.
Thanks to the unbelievable generosity of those that donated on Facebook and via PayPal, not only were we able to fill boxes of toys, games, and the like for each and every child in the local shelter, we were also able to provide several boxes of toys, games, etc for anyone in the community that should stop by to seek assistance, ensuring that hopefully no child does without this Christmas season.
This would not have been remotely possible were it not for the generosity and support of those that contributed and for that, I am humbly grateful.
An abbreviated collection drive by some amazingly ambitious and generous people afforded us the opportunity to deliver 100 backpacks filled with school supplies as well as an additional case of supplies for the teachers to Edith I. Starke Elementary School in Deland.
Enough can’t be said about the Lab Customer Service team over at DaVita for taking the lead on this incredible scholastic supply drive.
Because of their efforts as well as the efforts of several individuals, we were able to more than quadruple the amount of supplies donated to the elementary school kids this year compared to last.
A sincere and humble thank you to friends and family that once again came out to support “backpacks from the heart“ including newcomers Allen and his children which did a phenomenal job on their first outing.
There were mostly new faces this year though a couple were recognizable and all were overly appreciative albeit surprised by the offerings we had for them. We warmly welcomed their interactions and to the ones that chose to share, listened to their stories of how they feel blessed even in their situation.
There was one older woman that was asleep in her wheelchair as we happened upon her and so we just set a backpack down by her feet so that it would be there when she woke up. As we pulled away we noticed that she was awake and was curiously going to the bag to see what somebody had left her.
And we had an older woman with a walker that did not want the backpack itself but just wanted the items inside…we let her know that she could give somebody else the backpack after she partook of the items inside and as we circled the lake we noticed her backpack (now empty) sitting on the brick wall. Instead of leaving it we decided to grab the backpack and will fill of the school supplies for the other project we are doing later this coming week.
All in all I would say it was a successful outing…new friends were made and great stories shared with all involved, both in our group and the people we were there to assist.
Again this is only possible thanks to the love and support of family and friends – it is only because of your warm and generous hearts that opportunities like this are even feasible. For your friendship and support, thank you.
A humble “Thank You” to DaVita for partnering up with Backpacks from the Heart to help provide school supplies for Stark Elementary School again this year.
The efforts would not be possible without your amazing generosity.
Many many thanks to Laura and her friends, Joe and his family, and Jose for coming through this past week on backpack and supply collection.
Backpacks from the Heart is partnering with DaVita and will be providing donated school supplies again this year to the kids at Starke Elementary School and will be distributing backpacks filled with personal needs items as well as food and at the like to homeless in the Central Florida area – this is an AWESOME collection and is most graciously appreciated.
A huge shoutout to Joe and his wife for their AWESOME donation this evening…
Backpacks from the Heart will be looking to supply supplies again this year to the kids at Starke Elementary School and this is a serious headstart to accomplishing that goal…before it was even announced!!!
A quick trip to the Florida Hospital for children pediatric hematology delivering just some of the amazing treasures collected by the AWESOME DaVita team at Florida Deland, including cases of coloring books, activity books, and crayons as well as candy.
I only delivered about a third a what was collected so as not to overfill their office, but let them know that as soon as they get low on inventory to reach out to me directly and I’d be sure to stock them back up with another batch.
Again THANK YOU to DaVita for undertaking this initiative and running with it to this level of generosity…it speaks volumes what can be done when everybody chips in and works together for the greater good.
